From this picture (taken from the top floor
of the spa), you can see just how lush our grounds in paradise are. This will be more
pronounced when you are at the resort, as not only do the grounds have
a perimeter fence of bamboo and banana, to enhance that feeling. But the
land outside the villas' grounds is so dry (because we get so little rain
here in comparison with the south of the island). We actually water our
grounds with well water because, strangely, there is a lot of ground water
in this area as it lies at the base of Mt. Batur.
In this view, you can also see that each villa
has it's own sun lounges plus, of course, the wonderful "Alang Alang"
thatched "Bales", all set over lotus / lilly ponds. What is
a little harder to see, is that each Bale has the 3 main "Jepun"
(Frangipani) tree species around each of them. Our staff will be happy
to explain the fauna of this paradise island to you. But we can tell you, as well as fruiting
bananas and many coconuts (of course - although we crop most of ours at
flowering stage for safety reasons). We have mango trees, papaya trees
and an odd "Gawat" fruit tree. Guests can, with reference to
the staff first please, pick these fruits for their own use. The Gawat
("Jew-ert") fruit is very bitter though, but it makes an excellent
and unique sorbet ice-cream. To see a 360 degree virtual tour of our villa grounds
please check out our virtual tours page.
