Sunshine and rainfall weather information

In two words, the weather in North Bali, when compared with South Bali is "Much Nicer!"

Northern Bali receives much less rainfall than Southern Bali. So it is a better bet year round, and especially so during the "Rainy Season". Unfortunately, however, weather data is only published for the Denpasar area (shown at bottom of page), so we can not fully quantify this for you. But, if you look at the aerial video of the surrounding coastline in our Picture Gallery, you will see just how dry the area is around our little oasis.

A good estimate of rain fall, would be that the North is often up to 50% drier than the South. Especially for the period October to December. When it can rain heavily in the South, but once you clear the mountains coming North, you will normally find nothing but blue skies.

During June to August, the North is probably a couple of degrees hotter than the South. On the coast at Sambirenteng, the sea breezes can drop to almost nothing in the evening. So the bedroom air conditioning and room fans are likely to see more use then! During the day time however, the sea breezes mostly pick up. And with the lower humidity of the dry season, makes this period the most enjoyable daytime wise.

During January and February, strong winds can often affect the North coast (which is why we have such strong sea defenses). These rarely get up to gale force however. During these winds, it may actually feel "slightly chilly" on the beach if you are wearing summer clothes. Though once you are behind the blinds of the villa patio areas, you will soon feel very warm again. During the night, you should feel very comfortable without the air conditioning or fans on. During the high winds, we do not recommend snorkeling or swimming in the sea, as the waves pick up. It is, however, a good time for finding shells and dead coral along the beach.

One last mention is that El Ninó tends to affect the weather patterns in Bali every 4 years (more winds / rains). El Ninó years are 2002, 2006, 2010, etc. This effect may actually benefit some people, especially during the dry season.
