| This is a comparison / report made by a genuine guest of both
the Oberoi Hotel in Seminyak and Villas Agung Bali Nirwana. It
is not meant to demean the quality, reputation, value or fine
name of the Oberoi Hotel Bali, but rather show the outstanding
value of our small boutique, luxury villas resort "Agung
Bali Nirwana". The whole idea was that of one of our guests,
please read our Luxury Bali Hotels comparison
/ explanation page here.
We did not ask this guest, Mr. Mark Bryce, to compare our villas
with The Oberoi Bali. But rather saw he posted a just back report
on the Bali and Lombok Travel Forum, which made comparison between
us and the Oberoi Hotel Seminyak (he stayed at both), and asked
him if we could use some of the report material on our site. He
agreed. He posted his report on the Bali and Lombok Travel Forum
on the 22nd September 2003 after staying with us on the 6th of
that month, and the Oberoi Hotel Bali on the 10th. Here is part
of his Just Back Report (it has only been edited to remove other
unconnected text, not to change the meaning or so much as the
spelling);
We then decided to travel north and booked to stay at the Agung
Bali Nirwana Villas. This was the turning point of our holiday!
As we travelled north the weather improved with every mile and
by the time we arrived at the villas we had perfect clear skies,
which remained the same for our stay. What can I say about these
villas, other than describing them, as paradise probably doesn’t
do them justice! The grounds and the pool were idyllic and the
villa itself was without doubt the best we have ever had the pleasure
to stay in. We had a Balinese massage in the spa before relaxing
in our villa with a wonderful meal. The staff were the friendliest
we have ever met and they couldn’t do enough to make our
stay as relaxing and memorable as possible. It truly felt like
we were leaving friends behind when we reluctantly had to head
back south. We spend our time there relaxing around the beautiful
infinity pool and finishing each day with a massage and a great
meal. The day was capped off by seeing a large whale swim past
the villas only a few hundred metres from the shore! There are
only three villas within the complex and the staff out number
the guests three-to-one. With this few guests around it really
felt like you had the whole resort pretty much to yourselves.
We have stayed at some wonderful and luxurious resorts throughout
the world but Agung Bali Nirwana was without doubt the very best
we have visited. We headed south again feeling totally relaxed
and rejuvenated and booked into the Oberoi in Seminyak for our
final night. With a little persuasion we got them to agree to
a 30% discount off the room rate, along with a complimentary breakfast
and airport transfer. The hotel felt a lot larger than the number
of rooms suggests and although we cannot fault the room or service
it did feel a little expensive for what you got. There were some
nice touches like having the bed ‘turned over’ in
the evening, and a complimentary coffee with our wake-up call,
however it felt as if they were trying to provide a service that
justified the cost rather than the other way round. Maybe it was
a little disappointing because we could only compare it to Agung
Bali Nirwana? The food and drinks prices shot up by nearly 500%,
so we decided to eat in Seminyak rather than pay the $70US for
a meal on the beach!
In conclusion, I would recommend anyone looking for the ultimate
R&R experience to head north to the Agung Bali Nirwana resort.
Brilliant accommodation, great staff, and a very good price!
